Update on Regeneration of Seven Brethren Bank, Barnstaple

Tarka Living Ltd provides the following update on the regeneration scheme at the Seven Brethren Bank site in Barnstaple. Initial activity has already begun on the former Tarka Leisure Centre and long-stay car park area, including securing the site and installing protective fencing around existing trees.

Update on Regeneration of Seven Brethren Bank, Barnstaple

To prepare the site for the next stage of development, selective tree and scrub clearance will be carried out. All works involving vegetation removal will be undertaken with the appropriate supervision of an ecologist. Before any tree work begins, each tree will be inspected using a cherry picker to identify any active nests. If nesting birds are found, that tree will be left untouched until the young have fully fledged.

All felled material will be sustainably processed for reuse-either as firewood of chipped for biomass fuel. Once complete, the Seven Brethren development will deliver 180 new homes along with significant environmental enhancements. These include the planting of nearly 8,000 new hedging whips, 103 new trees, and the installation of 18 bird and bat boxes, helping to support local biodiversity.
